Why Rush Limbaugh is wrong about Gingrich: He’s the wrong conservative for the nomination

Although Limbaugh talked at length this afternoon about how conservatives are sticking it to the GOP establishment by pushing up Newt Gingrich’s poll numbers , what he failed to mention is that Gingrich is the wrong conservative for the GOP nod. Rush hasn’t endorsed anybody, least of all Gingrich. But, some listeners may assume that he has.

I believe Gingrich is more a “big government Republican that Rush is willing to admit. And there lies the problem of whether or not Newt is conservative 100% of the time.

A real conservative would never sit down on a couch with Nancy Pelosi and agree about Global Warming. A real conservative wouldn’t go on NBC and accuse Rep Paul Ryan of Right Wing social engineering when dealing with entitlements. A real conservative would never utter in his life that the era of Reagan is over—Newt did.

Those are pretty much unforgivable sins. Yet, Newt gets to keep his conservative label without any of the scorn leveled on Mitt Romney.

I’m a Reagan conservative. I hate the GOP establishment and have knocked them viscously on this blog. So don’t align me with the establishment because I’m advocating against Newt. Yes, he’s brilliant but he’s also demonstrated some serious flaws in judgment a true conservative would consider no-brainers. At the end of the day, Gingrich is a horrible GOP candidate that has no business being the nominee if we’re trying to win the White House.

The Last Tradition is fast becoming one of the most popular political blogs on the net. Don’t miss out on the fun and tell a friend.
