BUMPED-Iowa Debate: Michele Bachman’s “Newt-Romney” attack scores big and points out Achilles Heel both men

For the past week I’ve been making the argument that Newt Gingrich is the wrong man for the GOP nomination based on strong evidence that he’s a big government Republican like Richard Nixon.

Last night Michele Bachmann, who has proved herself to be a consistent conservative throughout her career unleashed a simultaneous barrage on Gingrich and Mitt Romney underscoring how they offer a more fuzzier choice against Barack Obama.

Des Moines Register reports in a long and strong attack, the Minnesota congresswoman accused leading Republican presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney of holding policy views more in line with Obama than a conservative Republican.

Bachmann rolled the front-runners together as “Newt Romney” in a sustained, two-minute tirade that touched on health care, energy policy, illegal immigration and the bank bailout of 2008.

“If you want a difference, Michele Bachmann is the proven conservative,” she said. “It’s not Newt Romney.”

I think Bachmann helped herself last night. And I most admit Rick Perry has vastly improved himself on the debate stage. Last night was his best performance and he’s shown constant improvement with each debate.
