I saw this story and accompanying video last month In the Daily Mail before it broke all over in the American media and chose not to post on it. The reason I didn’t was because I felt the video was an intrusion of a private family matter that ought not to be made public. I believe in parental rights and a video like that doesn’t serve any purpose other than for people to get on a soapbox and yell “abuse”. As a parent, I believe in physically displacing a child when necessary and it’s not for me to criticize a fellow parent for do so.

Texas - The Texas family law judge whose daughter secretly videotaped him savagely beating her in 2004 has been suspended as a judge by the Texas Supreme Court.
According to an order signed Tuesday by the clerk of the state's highest court, Aransas County court-at-law Judge William Adams is suspended immediately with pay pending the outcome of the inquiry started by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct earlier this month.
The Associated Press reports that the order makes clear that while Adams agreed to the commission's recommended temporary suspension and waived the hearing and notice requirements, he does not admit "guilt, fault or wrongdoing" regarding the allegations. His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

There is no such thing as a nice video of a parent disciplining a child physically. It would always look ugly to outside eyes. But, privacy is supposed to mean something to what happens in a home. Society seems very comfortable sticking their nose in and offering their outrage over this judge and totally ignoring privacy issues. But, they’re equally quick to yell “privacy” when anybody raises an objection to women committing the violent act of abortion.
