Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia has pulled ahead of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, taking a narrow within-the-margin-of-error lead over Romney in Gallup's latest national poll of registered voters who are Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.
Gingrich had the support of 22 percent of these registered voters and Romney had the support of 21 percent, according to the poll, which was conducted Nov. 13-17 and released today.

Former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain was third in the poll with 16 percent, followed by Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with 9 percent, Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 8 percent, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota with 4 percent, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman with 1 percent, and former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania with 1 percent
