This alleged child abuse scandal has cost Franco Harris his job for being a good friend of Joe Paterno.
Franco Harris has been an outspoken supporter of Joe Paterno in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse allegations.
So much so that Harris, a Pro Football Hall of Fame running back who played for Paterno at Penn State, was fired by The Meadows Racetrack and Casino as a spokesman, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The racetrack is located in Washington, Pa., just outside Pittsburgh.
Harris publicly expressed his displeasure over Paterno's firing last week.
“I feel that the (Board of Trustees) made a bad decision in letting Joe Paterno go,” Harris said, according to the paper. “I’m very disappointed in their decision. I thought they showed no courage, not to back someone who really needed it at the time. They were saying the football program under Joe was at fault.”
The Meadows issued this statement:
“In light of the recent developments with Franco Harris regarding Joe Paterno’s dismissal, Franco and The Meadows have mutually decided to put their business relationship on hold at this time, while these matters are looked into further.”

I was raised to back up your friends no matter what, especially in times of trouble. That’s what Harris did showing support for his old coach. But, everybody seems to have made up their minds in the court of public opinion about the Penn State child abuse scandal. He didn’t deserve to lose his job. I'm curious about something. Does the casino worry about addicted gablers that come to gamble?
