{NEWS} A K-Pop Sensation Plays Letterman

Girls’ Generation is performing on CBS’s “The Late Show With David Letterman” tonight, the latest inroad by K-pop into the U.S. market.

Girls' Generation has its sights set on the U.S. as its fame grows beyond Asia and K-pop fans.

The nine-piece pop act, which already plays to packed concert venues around Asia, will sing an English-language version of their male-baiting single “The Boys,” which was co-written by Teddy Riley, famed for his work with Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown and Usher.
While Girls’ Generation has played in the U.S. before, the TV appearance marks a new level of mainstream American exposure for the group, and Korean pop in general, as its world-wide audience grows.

SM, which manages Girls’ Generation, organized a Madison Square Garden concert in October that sold out. In November, Big Bang, a boy band, took the “World Wide Act” award at MTV’s Europe Music Awards, while MTV Iggy, which focuses on music from outside the U.S., named Korean group 2NE1 its “Best New Band in the World.” JYP, the agency that works with the Wonder Girls, is set to break a Teen Nick made-for-TV movie, starring the girl band, in February.

While a Letterman appearance will surely boost Girls’ Generation’s recognition stateside, the telegenic group has a strong global following — one video, “Gee,” has more than 64 million views on YouTube. “These girls are sexy enough to open the floodgates for the Korean wave with this performance,” says Billboard’s East Asia correspondent Rob Schwartz.

Several members hail from the U.S. — Jessica, Tiffany and Sunny (they only go by their first names) were all born in California, giving them another advantage as they make the media rounds.
“We definitely want to sing in English,” said Tiffany, during a summer concert headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Japan. “We need to be nine Beyonces.”

[NEWS] Girls' Generation Dish On Hazards Of Making 'The Boys' Video

'A pigeon comes out and that pigeon flies all over the place ...,' Korean girl group member Jessica explains.

The phenomenon that is Girls' Generation is making its mark in the United States. Last week, the Korean pop girl group released their latest music video, "The Boys," and with 13 million YouTube views in just over a week, it's clear that fans love it.
On Monday, all nine Girls' Generation members stopped by MTV News and told us that they are still in shock that so many fans have checked out their latest effort.
"We have never expected many people to view our videos," Sooyung said. "So we are surprised and would like to have more chances to meet our fans in other countries."

The Teddy Riley-produced song is the first single off their third studio album, The Boys, which was released worldwide on October 19, the same day their video was released. The sexy, upbeat video shows off the girls' dance moves, highly stylized wardrobe and over-the-top set designs.
"All the sets were supposed to portray water, sand, and roses ... somewhat environmental," Tiffany explained. "It turned out so well, so we were all very pleased."

In one of the scenes, the girls walk in slow motion through a rain shower of rose petals, but shooting that particular scene was not as glamorous as it looked. "It was really hard to keep our eyes open during the rose petal scenes because they would use the same rose petals over and over, so I don't know how they got rid of the dust, but there was a lot of dust," Tiffany said.
Dust wasn't the only thing Girls' Generation had to watch out for on the shoot. The girls recruited a 10th member to join their group for the video, which unfortunately didn't turn out as planned.

"There was a pigeon. A pigeon comes out and that pigeon flies all over the place and guess what?" Jessica laughed while explaining the pigeon's "accident." "It actually happened on the collarbone of Sunny's."
"Luckily she has short hair," Tiffany added. "But it was funnier because Sunny didn't know that it happened."
"I actually told her," Jessica said. "I'm like, what is that?" And of course, with nine girls on the set of a music video, you can bet there were a whole lot of laughs.
"There are scenes with all the lights off, like the silhouette scenes," Tiffany said. "We were screaming and laughing while doing the scenes because you don't see our faces." Girls' Generation's first U.S. maxi-single will be released on November 19.

[NEWS] Girls Generation Talk 'Epic' Madison Square Garden Show (Video added)

They're most likely one of the biggest pop acts you have never heard of, but Girls Generation, a nine-member Korean pop group that came together in 2007, have since become a national phenomenon.
Their 2009 hit "Gee" is the longest-running #1 song on the Korean Broadcasting Charts; their self-titled album released in Japan in June went double platinum, a first for a Korean girl group; and their latest music video, "The Boys," has racked up nearly 12 million YouTubeviews in just one week.

Girls Generation (a.k.a. Soshi or SNSD by their international fans) are now gearing up to take over the U.S. airwaves. After releasing their third studio album The Boys last month in Korea and then worldwide, the ladies have signed with Interscope Records. On Monday, all nine girls stopped by the MTV Newsroom and talked to us about their success, including performing to a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden this week alongside several other Korean pop acts.
"Performing at Madison Square Garden is a real honor, so we had a lot of fun," Jessica told MTV News.
"It was epic," Tiffany added.
During the performance the girls sang, for the first time, the English version of "The Boys." The track has a heavy beat and a radio-friendly sound, showing off not only their strong vocals but their rapping skills.
"It went pretty well," Jessica said of "The Boys" performance. "They all sang along, so we were really happy to sing it in front of our fans for the first time and we thank everyone for singing along."
So with "The Boys" single about to hit the States and the video already out, will the girls work on a full-length English album?

"Yes!" Tiffany revealed. "Our U.S. maxi single will be released November 19, it will be in stores, and we're just as excited as anybody else. We haven't started on a full-length album, but we're kicking off with this maxi single and hopefully it will lead to a full-length album."
While the girls are still expanding their Stateside fanbase, they were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from fans during their visit. "This whole situation itself has been pretty surreal," Tiffany admitted. "So we are just very fortunate and we're just really excited to be able to meet our fans here in the East Coast and in the U.S."
Jessica chimed in, "We're just very lucky to have all these fans supporting us."

Daily News [04.17.11] SNSD's Taeyeon grabbed by mysterious man during performance at Angel Price Music Festival(*fancam updated*)

At the Coupang Angel Price Music Festival, a man managed to make his way onto the stage during SNSD's performance. Fans at the event were extremely confused, as there was immediate confusion as he made his way to the stage. Security guards were rumoured to have thought he could be a manager, although no one is certain how he made his way through the guards.

The man, whom no one is able to identify at present, jumped onto the stage during SNSD's performance of 'Run Devil Run' and grabbed Taeyeon by the arm, attempting to pull her off-stage. Meanwhile, SNSD's Sunny tried to stop the man from pulling her as she was the first to notice what was happening.

The matter was eventually resolved, and Taeyeon continued with the rest of SNSD in their performances of 'Hoot' and 'Gee.' Netizens commented on Taeyeon's bravery and dedication, saying she was very professional and praising her determination in continuing with the performances. Although she was very visibly shocked by the event, she continued on and finished their songs with SNSD.

A guy suddenly appeared from no where , and start draggin Taeyeon during "Run Devil Run' performance~~
**, What on EARTH does this guy think he is doing , dragging Taeyeon like that.....Aigooooooo ><
Sunny trying to save our Taengoo as she quickly pulling taeyeon away from that  guy..
After that incident, Taeyeon still performed professionally but she looks a bit down~ >< aigooo, poor Taeyeon

(that guy appear at around 03.40)

Fanstaengoo, Ps note:
Well, I know most of you are unhappy and angry with what had happened to Taeyeon ( about the mysterious guy who GRABBED her !!!) . ME TOO!!! I actually don't understand what the guy is thinking when he is doing this to Taeyeon.
But guys, let's bygones be bygones. Instead of hating that stupid and brainless guy, I think now the most important is to support our kid leader, and the girls ^^ It's not that I'm not unhappy and angry with that stupid guy. However, as the girls are becoming more and more popular, this kind of things are expected to happen. Be it the guy had some psychological problem or the poor security it had. As long as our kid leader is not injured, everything is fine. I'm sure the securities will do some reflections on it and let's hope that this kind of things wont happen again. Now the girls are currently focusing on their Japanese single, Mr Taxi !!! So SONES, please show your support to them by purchasing their albums alright?! SONES Hwaiting! SOSHI Hwaiting!!! ^^

What sets Soshified's charity drive apart is that Google had offered to match up to at least US$12,000 (approximately S$15,000) of the funds the forum had raised. A representative from Soshified added that they are currently working with Google to increase the amount.
All donations will be made to the Japanese Red Cross Society through Google Crisis Response.
Girls' Generation
This is not the first time Soshified was involved with charities.
In conjunction with Girls' Generation's third anniversary last year, Soshified donated US$5,680 (approx. S$7,200) to charity: water, a non-profit initiative which focuses on providing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Local fan clubs of Korean groups Super Junior, SHINee and YG Family are also currently holding their own donation drives. Most of these clubs solicit funds from members and the public by spreading the word through social media.
YG Supporters, which is made up of several fan bases supporting artistes from YG Entertainment, also tries to raise funds by selling items from their blogshops.
What prompted these fans to do their part in disaster relief?
"We wanted to give something back to the society. We've been doing gifts for the girls [Girls' Generation] and it came to a point where we think that doing charity as a community and for the girls is more meaningful," the Soshified rep expressed.
According to Angela, a rep from YG Supporters, YG Entertainment makes donations to charities annually.
"Yang Hyuk Suk, the president of our favourite entertainment company [YG Entertainment] serves as our inspiration," she said.
