When I saw this story I asked my wife what she would’ve done if this had happened to her, before she gave me her reply I already knew what her response would be-she’d give the money back to Pfizer.
She has the kind of moral integrity this other New York woman lacks.

It's every laid-off worker's dream to receive a near quarter of a million severance check, whether it's a mistake or not, as long as it's quickly cashed.
Laid off after over a decade's time under a billion-dollar pharmaceutical company, a New York woman says she's keeping their mailed severance check, even if it is 400-thousand over.
Janet Rodriguez, 54, is now playing defense, however, after the drug-company Pfizer, the world's biggest drug maker and manufacturer of Viagra, says they want their money back.
The drug company insists the check for $517,140.24 was an honest mistake with only $105,851.75 of the check meant to be paid.
They plan to take it every which way in court.

In this Post-Modern world where up is down and wrong is glorified as right, this case shows us how far we have sunk as a society.
A good number of people would feel that Ms. Rodriguez is “entitled” to keep the money given that she’s been laid off during these difficult economic times. Pfizer is a multi-billion company and $400K is a drop in their bucket.
Those crackpots at Occupy Wall Street would argue that Pfizer is a greedy corporation that made their profits on the backs of the 99%. It’s a ridiculous notion but I had to throw it into the mix.
But, what is the honest thing to do and what do we use to get there? What is character all about and how can we get it back? If you think I’m the fool for giving the money back, then we’re all in deep deep trouble.
